Performance Exhaust Systems In Dublin

LOUDER IS NOT THE SAME AS FASTER.
Cat back systems, downpipes, sports cats, custom stainless work and exhaust repairs. We will tell you where the power actually comes from on your engine, what the system will sound like at motorway speed, and what stays legal on Irish roads. We do not remove catalytic converters or particulate filters.

What A Performance Exhaust Actually Changes

An exhaust system does two jobs. It gets spent gas away from the engine with as little restriction as the engine design wants, and it controls how the car sounds doing it. Most people buy for the second and are sold on the first. The honest position is that the gain depends enormously on what you are starting with. On a turbocharged engine, the restriction that matters most sits immediately after the turbo, so a downpipe is where the real difference is. On a naturally aspirated engine, the standard system is usually far less restrictive than the internet suggests, and a rear silencer swap changes the noise and very little else. We work on cars, vans and light commercials of all makes, and we are VAG specialists for Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT.

Exhaust Services We Carry Out

Cat Back Systems

Everything from the catalytic converter rearward, replaced as a matched system. The most popular upgrade because it changes the sound and the look while leaving the emissions equipment untouched.

- Complete cat back system supply and fitting
- Fitment, clearance and hanger alignment checked
- Tailpipe position set square to the bumper
- Sound assessed on a road test before handover

Downpipes And Turbo Back Systems

On a turbocharged engine this is where the meaningful gains are, because it removes the tightest restriction in the system. It must retain a catalytic converter to stay road legal, and we only fit systems that do.

- Sports cat downpipe supply and fitting
- Turbo back system fitting
- Lambda sensor relocation and refitting
- Post fitting diagnostic check for stored faults

Sports Catalytic Converters

A higher flowing cat keeps the car legal and testable while reducing restriction. It is the sensible middle ground and the one most customers actually want once it is explained.

- High flow catalytic converter fitting
- Emissions compliance retained
- Compatibility checked against your engine and ECU
- Fault code monitoring after fitting

Custom Built Stainless Systems

Where nothing off the shelf fits the car, or the owner wants a specific routing, tip position or sound, a system can be built to suit rather than adapted.

- Bespoke pipe routing and sizing
- Tip style, position and finish to your spec
- Resonator placement designed around drone
- Mandrel bent stainless throughout

Backboxes, Resonators And Tailpipes

Smaller changes for owners who want a note rather than a build. Often the best value option, and the easiest to get wrong on sound.

- Rear silencer replacement
- Resonator fitting or removal where legal
- Tailpipe and tip changes
- Twin exit and centre exit conversions

Valved And Active Exhaust Systems

A valve lets you have a quiet car on the commute and a loud one when you want it, which solves the problem most people create for themselves with a fixed loud system.

- Valved system supply and fitting
- Vacuum and electronic actuator setup
- Remote and app controlled valve fitting
- Retrofitting a valve to an existing system

Symptoms Of A Failing Clutch Or Flywheel

Clutch faults announce themselves gradually, which is why so many people only book in once it will barely pull away. Recognising them early keeps the job smaller.
01

The Revs Rise But The Car Does Not

Classic slip. Most obvious in a high gear up a hill or under hard acceleration. The friction material is no longer holding, and every journey from here wears the flywheel face as well.

02

The Bite Point Has Crept Towards The Top

A bite point that has moved upward over a few months is a clutch wearing out. It is the earliest reliable warning you get and the best time to book.

03

Judder Or Shudder When Pulling Away

A shake through the car as the clutch engages usually points at the flywheel rather than the plate, particularly on a dual mass unit. It can also be contamination from an oil leak.

04

Rattle At Idle That Stops When You Press The Clutch

A dead giveaway for a worn dual mass flywheel. The springs inside it have gone slack, and the noise disappears the moment the pedal takes the load off them.

05

Crunching Or Refusing To Go Into Gear

The clutch is not fully releasing, so the gearbox is being asked to select against a turning input shaft. Often hydraulic, sometimes the clutch itself, and hard on the synchros either way.

06

The Pedal Goes To The Floor Or Feels Spongy

Almost always hydraulic. A leaking master or slave cylinder, or air in the system. Stop driving it, because losing clutch operation in traffic is not a small problem.

How An Exhaust Job Works, Stage By Stage

Stage 01

Talk Through Sound And Purpose
What you want the car to sound like, how you actually use it, and whether you are chasing power, noise, appearance or all three. This conversation saves more money than any discount.

Stage 02

Inspection And Quote
The existing system, mountings, sensors and underbody condition are inspected, because a corroded manifold stud or a failing flexi changes the job. You get a firm quote before anything is ordered.

Stage 03

Fit Or Fabricate
The system is fitted or built up on the car, with clearances checked against the floor, driveshafts, fuel lines and heat shielding rather than assumed.

Stage 04

Test, Align And Road Test
Tips aligned square, all joints checked for leaks, a diagnostic scan for stored faults and a road test at cruise as well as under load, because that is where drone shows up.

Performance Exhaust FAQs

Need a quick answer about your vehicle? Call the garage and speak directly with the team.
How much does a performance exhaust cost?
It depends on whether you want a rear box, a cat back system, a downpipe or a custom build, and on the material. CONFIRM: state your fitting rates and typical prices for each.
On a turbo engine, a downpipe will, especially alongside a remap. On a naturally aspirated engine, a rear silencer change is mostly a sound change. We will tell you which applies to yours.
Not if it is designed for road use. Failures come from excessive noise, missing emissions equipment or a badly fitted system. The test includes a stationary noise measurement and an emissions check.
Only if it is the wrong system. Drone is a design issue and is managed with resonator placement and pipe sizing. Tell us how you use the car and we will steer you away from the systems that boom at cruising speed.
Not for a cat back system. For a downpipe or turbo back system, a recalibration is what turns the hardware into an actual result.
