Brake And Suspension Repairs Services

STOPPING AND STEERING. NOTHING MATTERS MORE.
Brake and suspension repairs carried out on the ramp with everything measured rather than eyeballed. Pads, discs, callipers, shocks, springs, bushes and bearings, with a clear breakdown of what needs doing now, what can safely wait and what we would leave alone.

Two Systems That Wear Together

Brakes and suspension are quoted separately and fail together. A worn shock absorber lets the wheel skip instead of pressing down, which lengthens the distance you need to stop and chews through pads unevenly. A seized calliper drags a pad, cooks a disc and pulls the car under braking until the steering geometry takes the blame.

Treating them as one corner of the car rather than two invoices is the difference between fixing a symptom and fixing the cause. We inspect both together, measures what is measurable, and shows you the wear rather than describing it. Nothing is condemned on opinion here.

We work on cars, vans and light commercials of all makes, and we are VAG specialists for Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT.

Brake Repair Services We Carry Out

Brake Pad And Disc Replacement

Pads are replaced in axle sets and discs are measured against the minimum thickness stamped on the hub face rather than judged by eye. A scored or lipped disc will destroy a new set of pads and give you the judder back within weeks.

- Pad and disc replacement in axle sets
- Disc thickness, runout and lip measurement
- Slider pin service and calliper carrier cleaning
- Bedding in advice at handover

Brake Calliper Repair And Replacement

A sticking calliper is one of the most common faults we find, and it rarely announces itself politely. It burns fuel, ruins a disc and pulls the car to one side under braking.

- Seized and sticking calliper diagnosis
- Piston, seal and slider repair
- Calliper replacement and refurbishment
- Uneven pad wear investigation

Brake Fluid Change And System Bleeding

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air over time, and moisture lowers its boiling point. Fluid that has gone past its limit can turn to vapour under hard braking, which feels like a pedal going to the floor exactly when you need it most.

- Moisture content and boiling point testing
- Full fluid replacement and system bleed
- Master cylinder and servo testing
- ABS pump bleeding where required

ABS And Brake Warning Light Diagnosis

A lit ABS light means anti-lock braking is switched off, and often stability control with it. The fault is usually a wheel speed sensor, a damaged reluctor ring or wiring at the hub, and our car diagnostics service identifies which before anything is replaced.

- Wheel speed sensor and ring testing
- ABS module communication faults
- Brake warning and stability control lights
- Fault clearing and confirmation after repair

Handbrake And Electronic Parking Brake Repairs

Cable handbrakes stretch and seize. Electronic parking brakes fail electrically as often as mechanically, and they need the right equipment to retract before pads can even be changed.

- Handbrake cable adjustment and replacement
- Rear shoe and drum servicing
- Electronic parking brake motor and module faults
- Service mode retraction and reset

Brake Lines, Hoses And Corrosion Repairs

Irish roads and winter salt are hard on brake pipes, and a corroded line is an automatic test failure for good reason. Flexible hoses also swell internally with age, which makes a pedal feel soft long before anything leaks.

- Corroded brake pipe replacement
- Flexible hose inspection and renewal
- Leak testing under pressure
- Underbody corrosion assessment

Electrical Symptoms We Trace Every Week

Electrical faults rarely fix themselves and they usually get worse in cold or wet weather. If any of these sound familiar, book a diagnostic before it becomes a recovery call.

01

Grinding Or Squealing When You Brake

Squealing usually means the pads are near the end. Grinding means the friction material is gone and metal is cutting into the disc, which turns a pad job into a pad and disc job.

02

The Pedal Feels Soft Or Sinks Towards The Floor

Air in the system, moisture in old fluid, or a leak somewhere in the lines. This is the one symptom on the page that should stop you driving the car.

03

The Steering Wheel Shakes Under Braking

Almost always warped or unevenly worn discs. Often caused by a sticking calliper, which is why replacing the discs alone tends to bring the shake straight back.

04

The Car Pulls To One Side

Under braking it usually means a calliper or a hose. All the time it usually means alignment, a tyre or a worn suspension joint. Both are worth checking together.

05

Knocking Or Clunking Over Bumps

Bushes, drop links or ball joints. Cheap to fix while they are just noisy, considerably less cheap once the movement has worn the surrounding components.

06

The Car Feels Floaty Or Keeps Bouncing

Worn shock absorbers. The car floats over dips, dives under braking and feels unsettled in crosswinds, and every one of those is a stopping distance problem.
07

Uneven Or Rapid Tyre Wear

Wear on one shoulder points at alignment or a worn joint. Patchy or scalloped wear points at shocks. Either way the tyres are telling you something the dashboard cannot.

How A Brake Or Suspension Repair Works, Stage By Stage

Stage 01

Describe It And Book In
Tell us what the car is doing and when. Braking, turning, over bumps, at speed, cold or warm. It shortens the inspection and points us at the right corner of the car first.

Stage 02

Ramp Inspection And Measurement
Wheels off where needed, pad and disc thickness measured, joints checked for play, shocks inspected for leaks and damping, and tyre wear read as evidence rather than ignored.

Stage 03

Quote, Priorities And Your Approval
You get the findings in the three groups above, priced, with the reasoning for each. Nothing is ordered and no work begins without your approval.

Stage 04

Repair, Alignment And Road Test
The repair is carried out, alignment reset where any steering or suspension component has been disturbed, and the car road tested including a proper brake test before the keys come back.

Brake And Suspension FAQs

Need a quick answer about your vehicle? Call the garage and speak directly with the team.
How much does it cost to replace brake pads and discs?
It depends on the vehicle and whether both axles need doing. CONFIRM: state a typical price range for front pads and discs on common models, and what it includes.
There is no fixed interval. Town driving wears pads far faster than motorway miles, so it is measured rather than scheduled. Most cars need front pads somewhere between 40,000 and 70,000 kilometres.
Only if they are below minimum thickness, scored or lipped. If they measure within specification they stay, and we will show you the reading.
Most manufacturers specify every two years regardless of mileage, because the fluid absorbs moisture over time rather than wearing out with use.
Uneven disc thickness, usually from a sticking calliper or heat damage. Fixing the disc without fixing the cause simply repeats the fault.
